I meant to post these forever ago, but I am only just now getting to them. In addition to Juls’ impromptu bridal session, Juls commissioned me to do some portrait of her as a gift to her mom for Mother’s Day, as well as some headshots to help start her new career in broadcasting.
We started off with some boring but beautiful close-ups to include with her resume

Once we had those in the way, we headed to the city center for some more fun, casual shots. However, I couldn’t make it out of the parking lots, because I kept finding cool little niches to shoot in. Vail has the best parking garages!

When she finally dragged me out into the shopping area, I could not believe how beautiful it was. Perfect weather, perfect setting, perfect day!

We stopped into one of the few ski shops still open for some environmental portraits. This is Julsy in her natural habitat

Then it was off the play in the snow! But, like always, I got a little distracted by an unusual backdrop -this cool road…

With these little rolling hills on the side of it!

Finally we made it to a little snowy patch hidden at the base of the mountain. As we’re both Southern girls at heart, we didn’t see a lot of snow growing up, so we tried to channel that feeling of the one snowfall of the year (if we even get that!) and how happy it used to make us.

And finally, a couple closeups of the gorgeous Juls..

Portraits are something I really really love doing, but don’t do very often because weddings keep me so busy. If you need some new portraits, whether it be for business purposes, a gift for your family, a way to remember a special location or time in your life, or just a chance to feel beautiful for a day, let me know!

Nothing extravagant this week. I had a blast at Courtney & Marcus’ very Aggie wedding on Saturday, and I can’t wait to share the photos. Jason’s folks came into town for the Memorial Day holiday, and I think we all had a much-deserved relaxing break. Saw Indiana Jones – fantastic! Mom and I saw CATS at the Dallas SUmmer Musicals last night – just as wonderful as I’d remembered it. Big changes in my life over the past 7 days, but you’ll just have to wait a bit to see what they are!
I have very very big, huge news coming up soon.. Everything you know about Stacy Reeves Photography is about to change. I don’t have an exact ETA yet, we’re looking at sometime mid-next week. Here is a little hint to whet your appetite..

So cute, right?? I am super excited to share, but I want to wait to un”veil” it all at once!
Also, this blog is MOVING! I will keep this one here for awhile, but be prepared to change your bookmarks and subscriptions, because Blog 2.0 is going to be waaay better!
Tomorrow I leave for NYC!! Woohoo!!

Now that Angela and Zach are off to Prague, I can finally show off her bridal session! Since Angie is Alex’s cousin, we knew we had a huge standard of excellence to achieve, and I think we completely knocked it out of the park. I am SO proud of these photos!
Check out this cool bar at the Alden Houston Hotel.. The wall actually changes colors. It was fantastic! As was the beautiful bride in front of it

I love Angela’s “look”.. She is such a classic beauty, she reminds me a bit of the girl in this DaVinci painting.

I can’t get enough of her face!! She is so graceful and regal.. I think that maybe she was a queen in her former life.

Loved the fantastic lighting in this stairwell

She may be regal, but she’s got a sassy side, too. Work it, girl!

How come I get all the gorgeous brides??

The Alden-Houston Hotel had this really amazing restaurant/bar.. I just wish it weren’t so busy so we could have gone inside!

And finally, this shot took forever to set up, but I just love it. It looks like she is sitting right in the middle of her wedding reception!

Angie, thanks so much for being so beautiful and such a great model, I had a blast and I just love the photos. You guys have a great time in Prague!

For those of you who are visiting this blog, “Humpdates” are my weekly Wednesday posts about what is going on in my personal life. If you want to skip this and get on to the photos, simply scroll down, or use the Category links to the right.
Sadly I don’t have nearly as much fun stuff to share with you all today. This past week has been all about relaxing and enjoying my week off before things start to get insane again.
Whenever I get free time, typically that translates into me spending lots of money. I guess after I have been working so hard to earn money, the best reward is to go out and splurge! This weekend Jason and I continued with our master bedroom remodel. We purchased a few pieces of furniture (thank you, Ikea), sold a few pieces of furniture (thank you, Craigslist), and I personally added a ton of items to my “Home Decor Wishlist” (thank you, Hobby Lobby). When we moved in here, everyone warned me that I would be in home decorating purgatory for the rest of my life.. Man, were they right! I feel like I will be decorating and redecorating for the rest of my life!
I also made a very exciting purchase yesterday….

Finally!! I have been whining about wanting a Blackberry for ages, but yesterday AT&T had a $99 PDA sale and I snatched it up while I had the chance. So far, I love it
And it’s even Aggie maroon!! (Okay technically it’s “red” but I say it’s maroon!)
This weekend Jason’s parents are coming into town, which I am excited about. I love his family! I am also finally shooting a wedding again (it’s been 7 weeks, isn’t that crazy?), which marks the start of 5 wedding-filled weekends in a row. I told myself I would never do more than three in a row after last year’s run of seven weddings straight, but thankfully the second and fourth weeks are destination trips that will be more like vacations than work.
Speaking of which, a week from tomorrow I will be in NYC for the first time in my life! I am so excited to be going, especially with Jason, and especially with Carrie & Preston, a super-fun Aggie couple whose engagement session I will be shooting there. They have the funniest “how we met” story that I can’t wait to share with you all soon!
How about American Idol? I’ve been too bitter to talk about it lately because I was devastated that my friend and fellow Ag Jason Castro got the boot, and I also loved Syesha so I was even sadder when she was knocked out. I have been saying since week one that no one stood a chance against David Archuleta, and I think last night proved that. I think David Cook will be better off on his own anyway.. the AI honchos always turn their winners into a typical formulaic teen pop star, and while David Archuleta can totally take that and run with it, I think it would make a rocker like David Cook miserable. What do you guys think?
Alright that’s it for today… If you’ve been to New York, please leave me a comment and tell me what I should do/see/eat while I’m there. I am totally open to suggestions!
